Hey, I was wondering if the essay for NYU changes each year, like the topic. Or is it just any type of essay?

nasali, Apparently, the short answers for NYU change every year but maybe not all of them. For instance, the year my son applied (last year), the applicants were asked to write a poem that described themselves (any style poem was acceptable). I think that was the theme. The same year, they had to share which New Yorker they would like to meet or get to know better (something to that effect). It sounded to me the latter question might have been the same or very similar for the students applying for Freshmen class of 2011.

What about the actual essay?

The NYU essay is the Common Application Essay which gives you some choice in topic matter, as I recall. NYU does not have a separate essay; just the short answers section which have to be answered briefly and succinctly.
