<p>In the application it says approximately 250 words. My essay is 261. Does it matter?</p>
<p>haha..not at all... as long as its within 50-100 words of 250 you should be fine</p>

<p>i was just thinking about this. i wrote an essay that i love, but it's 671 words. I think that is too long, but i dont want to cut it either! urgg :(</p>

<p>yes 671 is a bit excessive, try to shrink it down to less than 300.</p>
<p>yo my friend, a couple weeks back u read my what are my chances thread and said i quote "UVA likes well rounded kids. I don't really see you as that. Oh and great admissions essays but 580 and 570? Seems a little odd to me. Was the test just a fluke?".</p>

<p>I was accepted and my essays were 300, 286, 800. I don't know if that helps much, but use it at your discretion</p>

<p>laxguy, I am planning on sending my common app essay (with is 977 words and 2 full pages) as my UVA personal essay, which is supposed to be limited to a full page. Is this what you did? Do you think I could have a problem with this?</p>
<p>I will that my 970 word essay was a personal memoir type thing, so it didn't really read like a 1,000 word piece. </p>
<p>A highly academic essay full of big words and complex sentences approaching 1,000 words might be a little riskier.</p>
<p>Remember that they say 500 words or one page. Put your essay into the text box, save it. Then go to the print option so you can preview your app in PDF format. Mine came out to a page and a third.</p>
