Hello, I was curious what some of the essay questions have been on previous applications to certain law schools. The ones I had in mind are

Stanford
UC Berkeley
UCLA
USC
University of Washington

If you have applied to one of these schools and remember the questions or know someone that did apply than feel free to post.

All of the law school app essays (personal statements) I saw were very open-ended...far more so than most undergrad essays. There was never a very specific prompt...just a general opportunity for you to personalize your application. They usually amounted to "Tell us something about yourself," and then went on to say that you were welcome to discuss your reasons for applying to law school, your relevant background, specific goals, uniqueness, interest in their particular school, etc.

They shouldn't be re-tellings of your resume, nor should they focus solely and superficially on Why I Want to Be a Lawyer. That said, they should highlight/elaborate on some of your strengths, and they should be relevant to law school.

Some schools invited the applicant to discuss diversity in the personal statement, others included an optional diversity essay.

Google will help give you an idea of what you'll be asked to do. Ditto the law school shelf of Borders, in all likelihood.
