I am in the process of writing my two - 250 word essays for CAS. For those of you who have written them; did you find them difficult to write? The prompts don't give you much opportunity to be creative.

hey,
I am finding the same problem - the questions aren't the best, but we'll have to do what we can, I suppose.

they're not expecting you to be creative

i didn't find them difficult to write, i thought they were a blessing. both questions allow you to show the admissions staff why you love cornell, why you're a good fit.

I always thought a creative essay would stand-out from the thousands of essays they have to read that come across as factual, yet boring.

yea, but it's not a big deal if you can't write a creative one

i think ur common app essay should be your creative essay worldshopper. like spanks said the other two on the supplement are meant more for information. straightforward. you could always put in a funny little story about how you got interested in whatever it is you are interested in. ya know? thats what i did with the one about academic interests. with the second supplement, i suggest that you look at the courses you might be interested in. I put in some prof names that I did some amazing research that i might be coming in contact with. basically show them that you truely are interested in cornell and you have read up on it.

Mr. ducky: For the first essay, I did include a little story of how I became interested in my academic area of study. For the second essay, I have done the research on the courses, etc. I just need to write the essay! The first draft of the 1st essay was written this morning - just need to edit it now.

well good luck with that

lemme know if you need anyone to look at it. im free today
