Essay questions

I'm applying to CMU RD, and I'd like to get into SCS, so I ranked my schools/departments as SCS, CIT, and Tepper. SCS apparently requires a minor, so what if I only want to minor in ECE from CIT or business from Tepper? Do I still have to mark off CIT and Tepper on my app? I don't really want to write about them in my essays because I'm not exactly sure what to write. If I don't make it into SCS, I probably won't go to CMU. Also, the only reason why I'd want to minor in business from Tepper is so I can possibly make more money in the future, because pure CS probably maxes out at around $150k/year? That doesn't sound like a very good thing to put on my essay, though, so what should I do?

EDIT
Okay so I just read the app more closely and it said only mark possible majors, not minors. What if I want a double major from SCS and Tepper? Is that even possible? I heard Tepper is just, if not more, competitive than SCS, so should I mark it on my application or just try to apply for a double major after I get in?

You can only officially be in one school. By all means talk about business and computer science and how and why you want to use both, but you can only be in either SCS or Tepper when applying as an undergraduate. I believe applying for a double major comes after you've already been accepted.

So it won't be any harder to get another major in Tepper if I don't write about it in my essay right?
