When we write an essay, it is considered off topic if we interpret the prompt differently from what the quote does? Sometimes the essay prompt is really vague. Do we have to adhere to what the blurb says?

Thanks

Thanks

No I just skip the quote and just read the prompt.

And what did you get?

My writing is atrocious, but I got an 8.

I would recommend only reading the question, and leaning on the quote only if you're confused or stumped. If they can't prove you didn't answer the question, they can't mark you for it. They'll be surprised, but they grade by a rubric nonetheless.

John

the prompt is said to be important. Better check it out

Thanks guys
