There is something that bothers me about essay recycling (aka using one supplemental essay for many different colleges). Some schools don't specify the topic of the supplemental essay, therefore we can use another supp we've written for another school. However, do different colleges know about each others' essay topics? If so, would the application be frowned upon if they realize this is the essay (or topic) one has originally written for another school?

As long as the essay fits the prompt, there is no harm in recycling.

Yea I mean, what if one school that doesn’t specify the prompt gets the exact essay written specifically for another school. Say Harvard gets the essay written based on Stanford’s or Princeton’s prompts (just an example).

Even then, I don’t see how it could hurt you. Schools that have open prompts recognize that some applicants will submit essays that they completed for other schools.

So you don’t think the title and the content should be altered???
