Essay scores

Can anyone comment on essay scores (especially for the ACT) on standardized tests and their relation to admissions at Dartmouth? Used for placement etc.?

I'm not exactly sure. I scored a 12 on the Essay for the SAT, and earned a 750 Writing score.

I think only the Critical Reading score is used for placement... correct me if I'm wrong.

And I got an 8 on the SAT writing lol...

I can't be sure, but I assume the essay scores on the SAT/ACT carry almost no weight in the process (as they aren't reliable indicators, in my opinion).

I scored an 9 on the SAT essay (740 for the section) and a 10 on the ACT (35 for the section).

Personally, I found the essay the easiest part of the writing section. I hated the parts where you had to find the error in the sentence. I think Dartmouth cared more for my math and critical reading score though. I wouldn't worry so much. Try to get a 9 or 10 on it if you can.

Idk how much they care.... but I did score a 12 on the ACT writing and a 25 composite and was accepted RD.... but then again, I don't think my test scores are what got me in! lol
