<p>i am Indian and have observed gender discrimination around me on several occasions. i have very strong opinions about such unjust treatment and want to know whether this will make a good 'background' topic for the common app essay prompt 1. has any of you ever written on such a topic before?</p>
<p>Essays need to be personal, not big issue. If you can write about gender discrimination in Indian culture and how it has shaped you and how you personally have fought against it, that would be great. Writing about gender discrimination and saying it’s prevalent in Indian culture and you don’t like it, not so much.</p>
