Last summer I went to a MIT Engineering program. I am applying to Caltech this year... and in the common application essay I was going to talk about this experience... will the Admins look down to it? . . . I kinda sensed a little bit awkwardness here...

Why should they? The name of the program is second to what you did out there. Besides, going to MIT program is better than not going to any, right? :)

tx. For some reason I just always thought the schools don't get along with each other... and I really don't want that factor to hurt my chance...

Why, it's probably only on CC over some abstract issue like AA that Caltech and MIT don't get along sometimes. In reality, however, if one of the Institutes builds the first teleport device, it will probably first connect these two schools (as someone on CC said a long time ago). :)

They definitely will not look down on an MIT program. Don't worry about that.

tx guys!~ this is truly good news

I bet Caltech knows that there is a huge overlap between students applying, or showing interest, in both schools. It would be hard for them to miss, and silly for them to show resentment. The adcoms are adults. Don't worry.

Some of the adcoms are also current Caltech students :).

ya i already submitted it... now working on the supplement woot!

If you get in, we should meet up over prefrosh weekend :)

(The program is one of your strongest assets. You really should talk about it.)

OMG ITS YOU!! ^O^ YAY~~~
