anyone else think that these essay options leave very little room for creativity...it's killing me. therefore, i procrastinate big time

haha I know what you mean. Luckily I was able to expand on another essay in which I somehow managed to connect crayons to an interest in finance (yeah, that was pretty interesting). You can just try to think of something totally out there, even a minute quirk or detail of your life, and connect it to a larger idea if you haven’t got any idea where to start. It worked for me (at least, I hope it did
).

I liked ND’s essays. I hate vague questions, so I liked that these ones gave me specific quotes and topics to point me in the right direction.

You always have the option of submitting an essay of your choice that isn’t one of the questions. That’s what I did, and it worked out OK for me.

i would, but that’s not one of the options this year. my guess is because they went common app. which already has that option

out of curiosity, for those who are answering the “different than your peers” question: what are you guys writing about? i mean not specific, but just some general thing. i.e. character trait, faith, decision-making, etc…

i think i’m going to tie in something about my faith
