As I (as well as many others I'm sure) start college essays, are there any tips that anyone can offer so that they will be as good as possible? Thanks.

i second that request

Write from the heart, it takes many tries and lots of thinking to write a good one, and don't bug other people to proofread your essay until you yourself are convinced that it's the best it can be. Also, don't ask people for ideas...if you know yourself well enough, you should be able to (with some thinking, of course) come up with a good topic. It's not the topic but how you convey it that really counts.

Above all...know thyself.

Make sure it's in your own voice. Don't let others change it around much.

Make sure you have at least 2 people proofread for typos, gramatical errors, spelling, etc.
