Essay Tone

I decided to do essay number three, but I have no idea what kind of tone is acceptable. The whole idea behind mine ended up being kind of strange, and included references to The Doobie Brothers, and "Gorillas in the Mists" starring Sigourney Weaver. Would this kind of humerous tone be frowned upon?
Also if anyone would be willing to read my essay I would be most obliged.

well, if you are a humorous person, then by all means be humorous, though don't go overboard and offend somebody. if you are normally not a humorous person, i suggest you not do it.

a piece of advice: leave the essay in your drawer and don't look at it for one week. after one week, read it again, aloud if possible. see if it still is a good idea to you. i'd be happy to read and input you, but i'm also applying to uchicago, so it's up to you. :)

It works. It really works.
