Essay Topic - List of Books?

If it just says to list the book you've read in the past year (school or leisure), do you think I should explain something about each book or are they really looking for just a list?

Just list them. You really only have 500 characters to fill in, anyways.

What if it’s a document I’m suppose to upload, and they didn’t give me a limit to the length?

hmmm, interesting. you don’t want to give the adcoms more information to read than they actually want to. If there is no limit, then maybe give a sentence or two maximum explaining each book

Just list them

I’m thinking of just listing them since they didn’t specify on any explanation, but I would like to hear more opinions.

You don’t have to list every book you read this year: Laundry lists are boring. You can interpret this to mean the books you read this year that were the most influential, or most interesting to you. Remember, they are trying to get a picture of your personality and interests - not obtain proof that you can read (your test scores and grades already do this.)

I would just list them. I have noticed on the common app that sometimes you can fill in > 500 chars etc, but when you look at the pdf printout of your submission, it will be cut off, even though it is still visible in the box where you typed the info in. So, I guess the best thing is to always read closely the pdf output to make sure everything you want is actually there.
