First, if I talk about global climate change as the international issue for my SFS essay, would that be too cliche or common? I have a pretty high-level award in environmental science, so it would be consistent with other parts of my application, and I thought taking on an issue that had a slightly scientific aspect (in addition to its political and strategic significance) would set me apart from the typical applicant. However, it seems like a pretty “obvious” issue, so thoughts?
Second, for the “indicate any special skills or talents that you possess” section, would mentioning that I’m good at languages and am self-studying a language outside of school (in addition to taking one in school) fit?
Thanks so much!
