<p>I'm thinking about writing and essy for the first Common app option, "Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you."</p>

<p>I was thinking about centering my significant experience around the death of a friend when I was 15. However, it would focus more on how her death brought three of my friends together each year. Do you think this would be okay to write about, or should I pick something a bit more light hearted?</p>

<p>The topic may be heavy but make your thesis a positive one. Also, make sure it doesn't just tell a story...make sure it tells something about you specifically. Remember, the key part is "impact on you." And this isn't just the consequences it brought about in your life. It's the permanent character changes it brought about in you.</p>
