Hey all,
I've been lurking ever since the boards were switched. I was wondering if its ok to go a few words over the word limit for the Cornell Essays (maybe 10-20 words). Thanks!!

If it says approximately 500 words, it is safe to write no more than 600 words, and no less than 400. However, if an essay says 500 word limit, then do not go more than 20 words over. Just keep it so that it is 1 page and about 3/4ths of the second page. They will not count.

my personal statement is around 550. my cornell essays are 254 and 275... they have the limits so that you dont write like 3 pages worth of essays.. youre fine

Is 363 words too much for Intellectual Interests essay?

hmm.... my personal statement was about 850words... but i've accepted.
I think something important is content, not number of words.
However, everybody should be careful of cutting every words unnecessary.

For the 250 word essays, try to keep it to 300 and for the 500, stay under 600...that's the rule I used.
