The colleges will not view it as okay. That said, you can probably get away with some exaggerations and fabrication of trivial details. The real question is: are you okay with it? </p>
<p>Try to stay within 17.6% of the word limit. If your essay has a lot of small words that read really quickly/easily and is almost entirely in active voice, you can probably get away with 25% over.</p>
