Essay

Does anyone know to translate the TOEFL score into the verbal score on the SAT. I got a 267 on the computer base test. I know its low, it is because I felt
asleep during the test. U know the listening section. They were so boring.

dude you can't convert your toefl scores to SAT verbal!!! thats crazy!!! they aren't even remotely similar.....

why wud u want to do that ....There is no realtion between them .. and they are both seen in two diff context ..

Toefl works on a cutoff basis while sat verbal is more of a high score race ...

SM

i dont think its possible to convert ur TOEFL score to SAT scores cuz the two tests have different difficulty levels ...and yea..they're just different...

btw, 267 is not a low score. anything above 250 is considered decent.

Well, my SAT verbal is hella low. And I was thinking how would a 267 would compare to the verbal score.

btw why is the thread named ESSAY

wondering

SM

ur sat1 verbal cant be compensated by atleast a toefl of 267 .if u were looking for a compensation or something i wud say atleast a 280 ..

but thats all for my 2 cents

SM

I made the mistake on the title, but I thought I had fixed it.

Will this score compensate for my 500 CR and 520 W? Or do i need to take the Toefl test again? Any suggestion or advice?

don't take the toefl again for sure....because even if you get 280+ its not going to help much....morever the freaking test costs $140...so definately its not worth retaking....you might wanna retake SAT which is if you are sure that you are going to improve...you know i got a 520 in CR in oct SAT but then i gave it again in dec and got a 690...r you applying for fall 2006?? if thats the case then i doubt you can do anything about it...

Hey, thanks. Yes, I am taking it in Jan. 28. I called some of the schools and they said the score will reach them on time. Still I don't trust them. I think it is kind of late already, dont you?

well yes because most of the school reject the jan scores...but if the ones to which you are applying accept them then there shouldn't be any prob...

Although they're not compeltely independent, the Verbal SAT and the TOEFL have a very weak correlation. If you get an 800 on your SATV, chances are you'll score above 250 on your TOEFL (duh!).

chanman,

if you dont think ur scores will reach on time...you could try Rush Reports. and dont take the TOEFL again...$140 vs. $60..

btw, i've always wondered why the TOEFL is so expensive...is it cuz they gotta pay for all the security cam's on everyone's ass..

peace,

-taj

Hey thank everyone for the advice.

taj, you just solved a mystery. I was thinkin' $140 was an exorbitant fee, even with the mailing of that CD that's suppose to help you which CB doesn't offer.

Gee, TOEFL is 100 times easier than CR. Can't compare or transfer!
