Essays about your failure

I know for a fact that a few colleges ask for an essay that talks about something that you've failed.
My idea is to start off by saying there's something that I tried out and I failed to accomplish what most people consider success. I talk about the process and journey and finally end off the essay talking about how it might not have been a failure after all because for me giving it a shot was success enough.

I'm not sure whether this really answers the question since they want to know somewhere that you've failed and I end off talking about how I don't consider my "failure" an actual failure. While I'm obviously not going to word it like that I want to know whether I have to change my essay. (Note: I haven't started writing anything yet but I have a good idea of what the essay is going to be. Just wanted to know whether this is fine.)

You’re being very vague with your question, but I do believe the whole idea behind that essay topic prompt is to elicit a “failure that is really a success/lesson-learned” type of response. So, you seem on-track!

Go for it, as long as you can back it up with something unique to make you stand out among the thousands of other applicants who do the same thing.

Remember, these essays are meant for you to tell the college about you and not just about the process.

@frugaldoctor‌ But talking about how the thing that I failed had an impact on me and why I enjoyed doing it anyways would be ok right?
