I am 110% sure that Chicago is my dream school. I would turn down any school to go to the windy city. I understand that the essays are the most important things in the admissions process and I was wondering if you current students or applicants could give a fellow UC hopeful some advice. Anything I should touch on or stay away from? Any cliches commonly found in the uncommon app? Thanks a bunch!

Essays are not the most important thing. Your academic record takes that spot.

There was a great thread with essay advice recently. Read that.

I meant in terms of UC. Sure they may not be the most important thing but they are pretty important. Thanks for the recommendation.

The most important things about the essays is that they sound like something YOU wrote and that you enjoyed writing them. For the "why Chicago" essay, you should sound like you've thought about it. That's really all there is to it.
