My common app and supplement essays are coming out grey when I print them? Is this normal???

Bump!!!

…That’s what they look like in preview mode… They should be fine… and even if they do turn out grey, it just matters that they’re legible. You won’t be rejected for color of the font.

I have the same question. The essays are printing out in a very light, almost illegible, grey. Does anyone know if this happens to everyone? Has anyone had their uploaded essays appear in a dark black ink when they print them in the preview mode?

My daughter’s all printed out gray too. They even appear gray on the preview screen even though she definitely uploaded the documents/essays in black. This must be “normal”! :)

I guess so. I know some kids who printed out in black… That’s why I was worried.

Son’s app was black except for the essay and the resume we included in the additional supplement. Both were gray. Also, both had ‘print preview’ written all over them. I went back in to the common app to look at the application and even to view it it had print preview on it. I hope that’s ok - now I’m starting to worry that that is what the admissions people will see.

Anybody else have any ideas?

We had the same problem but then changed the font and it worked. I think we changed it to Times New Roman - not sure what the first font was.

Mine is already times new roman.

goud - does your essay have print preview written all over it? If I look at son’s essay (view the uploaded document) it is black - but if I go to print it - it is gray. All pages have print preview written across them. Is there any way to print an application without those words? I can’t figure it out.

No, those words will always be there.

Everything on my daughter’s app printed out in black EXCEPT the uploaded documents (essays/additional information) were all gray. And diagonally across each page in HUGE letters it said PRINT PREVIEW. Font change made no difference (only tried Arial and Times New Roman).

MY commonapp one was in gray, as was one of my michigan supplements. however my sceond michigan supplement essay went on in black. i was baffled for a bit but decided to screw it and submitted them anyway

<<everything on="" my="" daughter’s="" app="" printed="" out="" in="" black="" except="" the="" uploaded="" documents="" (essays="" additional="" information)="" were="" all="" gray.="" and="" diagonally="" across="" each="" page="" huge="" letters="" it="" said="" print="" preview.="" font="" change="" made="" no="" difference="" (only="" tried="" arial="" times="" new="" roman).="">></everything>

That’s exactly what son’s say on his. This is our second time through and I think it has been more stressful this time - there are so many variances on the common app that there are multiple ways to do things right.

Do you think the colleges will see the application with ‘print preview’ all over it with grayed out essays?

Bump 10char

Looking for more opinions - is this what you see when you hit print priew and print out a copy?

Yes 10 char

Bump 10charrr

I got grey. I have a thread. I’m so panicked. WAHHHHH
