under topic of your choice, would that be where you could opt to write a personal statement or something of that nature, or is that seperate from the common app essays?

does anyone have an answer for me?

Excellent essay advice from the University of Virginia:

haha this thread is funny...my advice to all of you would just be to take a deep breath and relax, you will find out the answers to all of your questions when you see the actual application...enjoy your summer break!

if you go over the word limit on the commom app online it will not allow you to save your essay (happened to me) and consequently won't allow you to submit your essay until you've edited it....

also, on the common app online be sure to PREVIEW your essays before you submit because sometimes it looks like it fits until you preview it and then you'll see that the last few sentences may be cut off!

I guess I never had that problem...my essay was around 400 words.
