Essays Posted Online Counted as Plagiarism?

Hey guys,

I wrote an essay for an English class and posted it on Turnitin.com. I also had to post the essay on a blog we made for the class (most of the essays we write in the class are posted in the blog). I worked very hard on the essay and turned out to really like it. I like it so much, in fact, that I want to use it for the Common App essay (Option 6, Topic of your Choice). I feel the essay does a lot to show who I am as a person. However, the problem is that I posted the essay online (for my blog and turnitin), so the common app may think that I completely plagiarized the essay and just stole it from someone. I wrote my actual Common App essay a while ago, but I think this new essay blows that one out of the water.

Can I use this essay, or do I have to write another one? Is there anything I can do if it counted as plagiarism so that I can submit it?

Thanks. Sorry if this question has been asked a million times before, but I didn't find much in a Google search.

Is your name attached to the essay online?

Does the essay fit the mold of a college essay (500 words, informal, shows a lot about you etc.)?

My blog name and URL has my name in it, but if they just run a plagiarism check it wouldn’t show what site the essay is from, right?

And yeah, it definitely fits the mold of a college essay. It’s not incredibly specific to just my experiences though, so I can see someone thinking that I didn’t write it. The essay does show a lot about me though.

U can explain the situation in the Additonal Information.

That’s a good idea, thanks.

I’ll make sure with the counselor to see how to go about it. Maybe he can verify to them I’m not lying in the Additional Info?
