Essays that worked?

Would anyone who were accepted/waitlisted/denied from WUSTL be willing to share their essays? I’m interested in reading what a college essay should look like.

I don’t think there’s a specific formula that you have to follow for the application essays. Obviously you have to answer the prompt, but the essay is a way for the admissions council to learn something about you that the rest of the application can’t show. As a result, the essays are very personal and varies from person to person. What works for one applicant might not work for you. Personally, I chose the “challenging an idea” prompt and wrote about gender as a social construct. However, that is only my story, and you have to find yours.

However, Johns Hopkins posts “essays that worked” on their website. There are also a ton of books on Amazon.
