I have two essay possibilities for my Columbia essay, but Im not sure which one is more likely to get me in.

The first essay is basically an autobiography talking about how my background: Guyanese(land of six peoples), New Yorker, and living in rural western Massachusetts has created my global pan-ethnic perspective. The language I used is probably stronger than the other. My only question is will an essay like this work for Columbia, which seems to be a pretty diverse place. Im assuming every bright minority student in New York is applying

My other choice is a an essay about how I organized a protest at forever 21 during my freshman year and how it launched my career in activism. The only problem with this one is im worried I might be laying it on too thick, because I talked about my work with amnesty international for my activity response and the human rights program for the why Columbia question. Not sure if it is my best piece of writing, but I think it is a more unique story.

Any ideas as to which would work out better? I can pm them to anyone interested in comparing the two.
