For those of you applying to a BS this year, how far are you on your applications? I'm just wondering. (Also kinda want to see if I'm behind or ahead >.<)

Bump…

I have been on 7 out of 9 of my interviews. (Thank you notes to each).
I sent out most of the general information forms with application fees/waivers.
I am almost finished all of the short essay questions.
I have a lot more longer essays to start thinking about.
I just handed out my school report form this week.
I have organized my recommendations and will start handing them out next week.
I took the november SSAT and am awaiting results (may have to retake)
I am awaiting my PSAT results also.
I forced my mom to do her PFS earlier this week. (Will force my dad to do his this weekend)
I will have my parents work on the parents comment sections throughout the next few weeks.

That’s pretty much it.

I just had one of my parents do the parent section. Is it better to have both parents write something?

I have almost interviews next month. I have yet to start essays :D

Wow 2010 hopeful! You really are far! i’m finished with all the basic info for the applications, did some of my short answer essays, and am almost finished with a longer essay. What schools are you applying to?

Andover, Berkshire, Brooks, Choate, Exeter, Hotchkiss, SMS, SPS, Taft

Where are you applying to?

Hotchkiss Deerfield Groton sps and maybe choate

I haven’t done anything yet. I plan to do it over thanksgiving and holiday break.

I have completed all my interviews.
I have submitted the candidate profile to all schools.
I have given all my teachers recommendation forms.
I have taken the SSAT and I’m awaiting results.
I am halfway done with my multimedia I am submitting with my application.
I wrote a rough draft for one of Exeter’s essays, but decided it needed a rewrite. I haven’t completed the rewrite yet.
I just finished writing my SPS essay. It’s good, but needs some spelling/grammar corrections and a little revising. (I’m very critical of my writing)
Aside from that, I have I think 14 more essays to do. (Of various length)

But the worst part is I have to go to SIX Christmas concerts in December. And half of them are on weekends, so that is terrible. I know what I’m going to being doing over Christmas break…

Interviews: Done! (only 5: Emma Willard, Exeter, Deerfield, Taft, NMH)
Essays: Started finished some
I’ve yet to compile all the needed supplies to give to teachers. I missed the registration for the December SSAT so I’ll do the January.
I think I’ll submit the candidate profiles now… coughoverachieverscoughloljk

@rad: No Hotchkiss??? :)

Me? I’m applying to Andover, Exeter, Choate, SPS, Deerfield, Taft, Loomis, Groton, Hotchkiss, and maybe Episcopal. For everyone that already took the SSATs, how did you prepare?

@circlemidnight,
I read, studied vocab from the Princeton Review, and got a tutor when I found out I got a 59% on the math. I’m awaiting my results from the November test. Have you taken the SSAT?

@2010: Now you know that face should be winking to indicate a joke :P, lol.
I actually have nothing against HK besides the fact that I find it irritating sometimes.

I have a question: Why do you guys apply to a bazillion schools? Where’s the logic in that? It’s the same thing as applying to colleges; if they see you have a bazillion schools down they’ll think you aren’t serious about their school and count you off, js.

@ Rad-in-Plaid : I’m applying to about 10 schools, mostly because I’m a long shot for financial aid - that is, it looks like my dad makes a lot of money, but he’s still paying off HIS student loans for medical school (family practice is NOT the way to go to make the big bucks, obviously) - so what it all comes down to is that there are SO many schools that I like, some are favorites, but ALL would be so much better than our rural public school. I need to get a perfect package of aid or scholarship combo - because my parents just can’t afford it otherwise. Besides, how would the schools know which other schools you are applying to, unless you really want to divulge it?

@meckla3prepesque,
During interviews schools ask you what schools you’re applying to. And if you use gatewaytoprepschools.com to apply, the other schools will know where you apply. Aside from that, they won’t know. But I don’t think you have to worry about the schools knowing that you’re applying to lots of schools. I doubt they’ll mind it.

i think they count it against you and feel offended if you apply to a better school than them.

As ifax said they ask you during the interview and they also ask you on the application. So unless you specified during your interviews why you applied to so many schools it would seem that you aren’t serious about their school. I suggest you try to convey why you like a certain school through the essay.

…It’s like being a player with 10 girlfriends…

None of my interviewers asked me about the other schools I am applying to. And only some schools I am applying to ask for what other schools I’m applying to.

@ifax I’m also using Princeton Review. It’s pretty good with the verbal. But I also have a Kaplan and thats very good too. I won’t take my SSAT until December. How accurate do you think the estimated percentiles are?

@Rad-in-Plaid96 The reason why I’m applying to a “bazillion” schools is because they’re all sooo good! I come from a public school and there’s no way it can compare to these prep schools! And isn’t that the point of the essays? To show who you are and why you want to go to these schools?
