Does University of Alabama require any essays for admittance? If so, what were last year’s prompts? I can’t seem to find them. I am an out of state applicant who will also be applying to the honors college. Thanks!

Hi…

Welcome!!

No essays on the school app. No teacher recs, either.

For the honors college app…
- for UHP and IHP the essays are just simple intros about yourself…they don’t make a difference for acceptance.

2) for CBH and UFE the essays are important.

Could you explain CBH and UFE for me? Are these essentially just extra study opportunities through UHP? Also, how do I go about applying to the honors program, after admittance?

Hi…we have a thread here that tells a lot about CBH and UFE…

Honors College thread http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-alabama/804961-honors-colleges-4-different-programs-app-process.html

After you are admitted…the honors college app link will show up on your MyBama acct…you apply then.

After you apply to the SCHOOL, Bama sends a follow-up email that allows you to set up your mybama acct. From that you submit your scholarship app. Then, after acceptance, you use the Honors College link to apply to that.

What scholarship do you qualify for?

BTW…can you post in our Roll Call thread? Thanks!!!

Currently, I qualify for the Capstone scholarship but I think I can get into at least the collegiate scholar, hopefully the UA scholar. Where is the roll call thread? Also how long does it take to know if you made CBH? Thanks a bunch!

^^^

CBH and UFE Finalists are notified in January, then there is an interview in February, and then those who make it are notified in March/April time-frame.

Be aware that the avg ACT of CBH is about a 33, so you probably will have to get your scores up to have a good chance. Good luck. :)

Take BOTH the SAT and ACT in case you do better on one than the other. If you took the ACT and didn’t do well in the Science Reasoning section, then the SAT may be better for you. Also, sometimes it’s just easier to study for the Math and CR sections for the SAT since those are the only ones that count for scholarships (for the SAT).
