Essays

Hi, for my Yale application, do you think it is possible for me to split my essay (which is about 990 words long) into two essays ...one for the common app essay and the other for yale's second essay. they address two slightly different topics with a unifying theme of diversity..

i was wondering if this is a good ide abecause i think a 1000 word essay is far too long.

man, 900 is way too much. And Yale is really stringent about the limits. I was worried about mine (569 words) being over the limit LOL

Also, dude, I'm curious to take a look at what could possibly take 900 words to describe..

My friend's essay was about 1200 words (Common App) and she probably went over 500 for the supplemental essay as well. She got in EA this year but she's also the strongest writer I know (in my age range) so she most likely used the essays to her advantage no matter the word limit.
I thought there was no word limit for the Common App essay?

My essays are more than 500 words each. Is that OK?
We ask that you respect the word limits we suggest. Will we read the words beyond 500? Yes. But if your essays are much longer than 500 words, understand that you will not help yourself by seeming to have ignored our request.
