Essayy??

I was reading through the Rutgers application and it said that a personal statement is not necessary unless you want to be considered for honors programs/merit based aid. Now, rutgers had to cut its merit scholarships because of the state budget not passing, but do I still need to submit an essay to be considered for the honors college? Or can they just look at my sat score and grades? Thanks!

Good question....the short answer is yes. What will probrbly happen is that you'll be required ot write another essay if they do decide to put you on the list for possible acceptance. They usually contact you for that and give you an interview and things of that nature. That's what they did for me at livingston at least. But since the honors programs and colleges are/have merged that requires is most likely across the board now....and that was the short answer :).....

I have posted this alot lately. Call the admissions office and ask them. they know what they are talking about and will be more than willing to help. be sure and get a name of the person that you contact for future references.
good luck

There are still scholarships. They are not state-funded anymore, but Rutgers is giving its own scholarships that vary in value from $4000-$10000/yr.

So, yes, write an essay. If I remember correctly, the essay topic was very vague and you can just shape an essay that you've already written for another school into one for Rutgers.
