Estimate my Class Rank?

<p>Hi -
I go to a prestigious public high school. There are about 450 students in my grade. The grading system in my school (for normal level classes) is as follows:</p>

<p>A+ = 4.33
A = 4.0
A- = 3.66
B+ = 3.33
B = 3.0
B- = 2.66
C+ = 2.33</p>

<p>For an Honors level class, bump a grade up one level (for example B becomes B+)
For an AP class, bump a grade up two levels (for example B becomes A-)</p>

<p>My weighted GPA is a 3.85. The only thing I know is that the highest GPA in the grade is a 4.5, and that the cutoff for the top 15 students is 4.21. Where would you estimate my class rank is? Thanks so much!</p>

<p>I would guess between the 15th and 25th percentile, although I wouldn’t be able to give you a real rank with any accuracy. It really depends on the grade inflation or deflation at your school.</p>

<p>I think the key here is prestigious HS, so I’m assuming a higher than average HS mean GPA. We know 4.5w is the max. But what is the mean? Hmmmm my best guess is that it should be around 3.5w. (B average, all honors-and that might be low for a prestigious school). Anyway assuming such a mean then you’d likely be around the top 30-35% of your class. (Also assuming at least 100 in your class).</p>
