My estimated awards package is the exact amount of full cost of attendance. Does that mean I got full ride because my EFC was 0 and our family income was around 18,000 a year.

They might have you take out some loans.

Well the is some Stanford Loan and some other Parent loan for a combined 5,000 of LOAns...all the others are awards/grants

22,000-5,000 = 17,000 ride?

so only 5,000 a year for my parents (assuming we do no load)?

am i lucky or is that happening to everyone else?

Pretty much, I got $17,500 last year. I rejected the loans which accounted for like $4000 of the whole amount (of the $17,500). I got a small $3000 scholarship and have gone this year without accumulating a penny of debt. UCSD is awesome. Really cool place. Prepared to get the Cal Grant portion denied and just send in the rejection letter and UCSD will usually pick up the difference.

Jakesrevenge1, it's not happening to everyone lol.

I'm paying for everything (I'll probably be rollling in debt by the time I'm done with college) and I'm not even near rich. I'm just middle class, maybe on the upper end. :

So I Got A Full Ride?! Wwwww-ttt--ff!!

i got the same thing but I noticed there was only cal grant b

For mine, there was cal grant b, pell grant, ucsd grant, and a lot of other stuff that added up to 22,000....

help me lol

i wish i can say something about my financial aid package, but i can't access the page since last night. My computer is going at a snail pace and it takes forever to load my accepted page. Is this happening to anyone else?

well we got the pell grant too and ucsd grant. About 12,000

weren't there some loans? other than parent loans, and maybe work-study loans (?)

i think you're supposed to pay off the loans after graduating or something, besides parents loans which they're supposed to pay.

but, i'm not too sure so correct me if i'm wrong somebody.

Let me get it up...hold on

Financial Need $22,654

Pell Grant
$4,310

Academic Competitiveness Grant
$750

Possible Cal Grant B
$1,551

UCSD Grant
$7,993

Federal Work-Study
$2,925

Subsidized Stafford Loan
$3,500

Parent PLUS Loan (optional)
$1,625

Other Outside Aid
$0

Total Awards $22,654

wow...

Looks like you got near the max or the maximum allowed per year for the Pell Grant, lucky you. :)

I don't plan on working so I won't get the $2,925 for work-study. The loans are 5100, are most of you guys getting the loans too?

Jake

That is a nice package...if cost of attendance is $22,654 and your non-loan/non-workstudy aid is $14,604 then you will be $8050 out of pocket. We have found that the cost of attending was lower than the stated amount.

Is 8,000 out of pocket good?

8000 dollars a year out of pocket to attend the 8th best public university in the U.S. is pretty good if you ask me.

Well, simply put, can you and your parents afford $8K per year? I think you said your family's income was $18K so that might be tough (but there are always loans).

If you are willing to do work study, that will help. My son works approx 10 hours per week at UC Berkeley and it is totally doable.

Hmm...8K x 4 = 32,000...jesus

nooooooooooo
