ETH Timeline

Currently a Junior in high school in America, and I'm thinking about applying/studying at the ETH Zurich. The language requirement shouldn't be an issue (I grew up speaking German with my mom), but I'm worried about the timeline compared to American schools. Their website says that you find out in April, but have to take the Entrance exam in August. Not knowing whether I'll be going there until August is a bit of a problem, considering the typical timeline for American schools, where you know by the end of your senior year of high school where you'll be going. Does anyone have any experience with this for the ETH or other European schools? Thanks in advance :)

if you get no help here, email the admissions office at ETH and ask how other americans have handled this. also ask if they are likely to admit someone with your credentials. Good luck.

My brother-in-law got his PhD there, BS and MS in the states. If I understand it correctly, the graduate programs are taught in high German but the undergraduate classes are taught in Zurich-Suisse dialect. Has that changed? Even though his German language skills were good, he could barely understand the Swiss dialects and had to take classes. He had to take more dialect classes when he moved to Basel as the regional differences are substantial.

His wife did her undergrad at ETH Lausanne, taught in French.
