Ethical dilemma.

Poll: You get a small Coke at Burger King. Is it stealing to get a refill when you're done?

It is assumed that refills are free if customers fill up the drinks instead of employees.

*At least this is what I have done since about age 3

Ofcourse not. I do it all the time during the summer. But then again, I may be wrong, in which case this would be so embarrassing.

No its not. If employees give you a look just stare back and scowl.

The refills are free. Don't worry about it: in order for them to not make a profit off your drink you'd have to refill more often than any one person could (and free refills is why they don't allow you to share drinks).

Even in fast-food places where the soda fountain is behind the counter (at least in all the ones I've been to), you can get a free refill if you ask. There's no way it's stealing to refill it yourself if the soda fountain is self-serve.

Besides, a cup of soda costs the fast-food chain a few pennies at the very most. You could probably pay for a small soda, use it to drink an entire gallon of soda, and they'd still make a profit.

then what's the point of making you pay extra for larger sizes?

depending on store the maximum it costs any store is 33 cents to provide a customer with unlimited soda from a fountain. In which the large sum of that 33 cents is for the cup.

You go into a fast food place and spend $2 on a large fountain drink it usually only costs them $00.20 to provide it but usually less.

Am I the only person that walks into Burger King and McDonalds with my own cup to fill up and then leaves without buying anything?

Yes, you are :)

The point of paying for larger sizes is the convenience of not having to refill, and the ability to take a cup out with more drink once you leave (especially if you're going through the drive-through). Larger cups are usually not that much more money: I think the other day at Fat Burger I noticed it was only like 20 cents more.

Wait, are you talking about the soda machines that are in the dining area (not behind the counter?). Those are free refills! That is why they don't put them where customers can't easily access them.

that brings up a good point, with those kind of fountains, if you are eating in the restaurant, anyone who purchases a large drink is getting scammed. You can just walk up and refill your smaller cup!

yes, but that involves walking. which many people would never do!
I always get the smallest size when there are free refills.

Like OMG Obama is gonna bring in the New World Order!!one11

At least that's what I heard some christians saying. They were also talking about some guy (I think it was norstradamus) that talked about a 'black king' and 2012. Meh, my eavesdropping wasn't as successful as I had hoped, so I am fuzzy on what they were saying.

And like omg, if we vote in McCain there's gonna be a spousal abuse scandel because McCain will probably be caught beating his wife. I kid, I kid (or do I?).

And Ron Paul? Eh.

I, for one, admire Obama for supporting free refills, even if it is socialist :)

L A W L Z.

Definitely not stealing. I remember when more restaurants were getting hip to the self-serve thing they actually used to have signs that said "FREE REFILLS" , perhaps to bring in more customers. There are larger sizes for if you're not eating inside. I tend to get the larger size when ordering to-go and a smaller size when eating in to refill. I did notice that some places without the self serve charge $0.25 - $0.75 to refill, especially in malls!

At food courts in the mall with the self-serve sodas, there are always passive-aggressive notes on them with something like "This soda is for X Store's customers ONLY! If you would like to enjoy a cool, refreshing drink from here too DO NOT use your own cup, please walk down to the register and PAY for your drink! --->"

Who cares? Everyone will eventually decompose back into the ground? Ethical codes don't exist, it is man-made.

no. what you pay for has included the charge for all your refills. ==
