Ethics Question: Peer Recs

Several of the colleges I'm applying to ask for peer recs. Is it okay to have my boyfriend write these for me? We were friends for years before dating, and I'm confident he'd write an honest evaluation, but I'm wondering if it's ethical to have a peer I'm dating write this for me? I personally have no problem with it, just because he knows me better than anyone else, but I'm wondering if this would be frowned upon?

well, just dont tell them that you're dating!

The question's not "will this hurt me if they find out?" the question's: "is this acceptable/fair/ethical?"

Well, the whole purpose of the peer rec is for it to be written by someone close, who can describe you in a subjective way. They already have your SAT and GPA if they want objective stuff.
As long as it's not too weird, I think it'd be interesting if he even wrote something like "why i fell in love with her".
I don't see why asking a non-bf would be "more" ethical. For all someone knows, you could've have bribed him with beer to write a good rec. That's not the point. If whatever is written is somewhat supported by examples, it's perfect. I know many students who have their parents write peer recs. How "fair" is that? - perfectly fair.

Yes its fine
;)

I agree with the above post, its absolutely fine.

I think its probably better... Negru has a point with the whole "why I fell for her" statement.
