Ethnicities?!?

Both of my parents are Thai (one by blood and one by nationality) so my dad is Middle Eastern by blood and is a Muslim. However, my parents split when i was 2 so i am not in touch whatsover with my middle eastern side. Should I just check off that I'm just asian to avoid preconcieved sterotypes ? (with everything in the media and all)

Well, technically, the Middle East is considered part of Asia even though they’re considered “White”. So yes, I would consider you Asian. Whether you consider yourself Asian depends on your personal racial identity.

Do forms not come with “Other” boxes anymore?

On most forms, Middle Eastern is different from Asian. Middle Eastern is usually a subcategory of white/caucasian. For example, you’d click Caucasian -> European OR Middle Eastern, and select Middle Eastern. You can also select Asian.

Most forms typically include a “multiple” or “other” box, which is probably your best bet. And colleges shouldn’t mind too much that you’re Middle Eastern. Seriously.
