Ethnicity Application Question

So you all know with the affirmative action and all.
I'm Persian, so technically i would be considered in the "White" category, but I can also apply as "other." Which do you believe would be more as to give you the "tip"?

I know the "white" category has almost the same population as the "Asian," so I'm thinking "other" is better.

For most intents and purposes, Persian doesn’t fall into the “white” category. You could, under technicality, put Asian, as Western Asia is in Asia, but other works in your case. Mostly, the system put in place to “tag” ethnicities, and to gather statistics on various races isn’t very good (for example, African immigrants are totally different in culture from
African-Americans, i.e. those with ancestry dating back to slavery). But yeah, putting other, and typing in Persian (if you’re allowed to) is probably the best way to go. Though in all honesty, it likely won’t make a big difference.

Where are you seeing “other”? Someone else said that the other day, but I only see NA, Asian, AA, Pac Is, and White on the CA that I downloaded.

Don’t try gaming the system, just put whatever is most correct.

with a link to the federal regulations. Persian people are white by the federal rules.
