What is Middle Eastern considered to be? White?

Middle Eastern. Or, if that designation is not available, you can write "Middle Eastern" when you check off "Other."

No. Middle-Eastern is most definitely white. That's how it is according to the US census, and I believe that's how most colleges consider it. Middle-Easterners are like exotic whites. It's the same analogy as someone from East Asia versus South East Asia. I once met a Vietnam fellow that had skin as dark some black fellows.

However, Pakistanis and Indians are considered Asian, even though anthropologically and genetically they're white, especially Pakistanis, many of whom are descended from Europeans that migrated there. Many white supremecists believe the white race began in India (but they're still nuts...).

Of course race doesn't matter because God created all men equal.

yes, God created all men equal

However....

With regard to college admissions...if you are a member of a particular race or if you are a URM, you have a better chance at acceptance

Well, i guess I'm not a URM...or even an ORM for that matter

How does that work? If you are a URM you are less likely to even graduate from high school.

If you have a beef with how affirmative action is used today, you are essentially against promoting diversity.

Anyway, I would mark "Other" and then specify Middle Eastern. Are you sure they don't have that as a choice on the Common App?

If you have a beef with how affirmative action is used **today*, you are essentially against promoting diversity.
*

I think that's a pretty unfair statement to make. Diversity and AA are not 100% conjoined at the hip.

yeah...i never said i opposed diversity...after all i'm not exactly your average white american (though apparently, according to the census bureau, i am....)

what i meant to say was, a URM with credentials similar to that of a non-URM has a better chance at acceptance, end of story...

also, i never insinuated that i oppose AA...so....chill
