Etiquette for Thank You Letters? (LOR's)

Hey guys, I'm hoping to get something for the teachers and other folks who wrote me letters of recommendation for colleges and I'm wondering what's the best way to do it.

Should I give them "TY" cards now or after I get my app. results back? Would some small compensation for their efforts be appropriate or do you think they'd be insulted? (like I'm bribing them. Lol)

Just wondering what you guys are planning on doing for the people who wrote you LORs.

I’m going to give my teachers my thank you letters right after they finish the letters of recommendations. Some small gifts are always appreciated by the teachers, but the personal, handwritten thank you letters/notes mean a lot to them.

After I send my early apps in I will probably give them handwritten thank you notes and maybe something like a Dunkin Donuts card. I wouldn’t think of it as remuneration or “compensation,” but you should make it obvious that you’re grateful.

I am a mom and feel gifts are not necessary . If you are a wonderful student , they are happy to write them . It is a part of their job . A thank you note is all that is needed , not an e- mail!

I’m not a senior yet, but my brother is. He’s planning on buying his teachers a small package of Ghirardelli chocolates with a thank you note when they finish his letters.
