Etranscripts for transfer?

I heard that I needed to send my transcript through etranscript but I’m confused on how to do so. Nothing is different in the common app section of the school. Can’t I just send a physical copy of it? Or can someone tell me how to do it?

If you are a transfer student, can’t you just have an official e-transcript sent from your current school? Usually the bursar/registrar’s office has instructions on the website as to how to request an e-transcript for another school.

My D had to send an official transcript from UChicago to Cornell and she did it directly through the UChicago student portal. It cost her $15, but it was very easy to do.

@annwank‌ Oh so was it required? I was reading the pdf instructions and it sounded like I could just mail the transcript the old school way? I found this easier because the other schools I was applying to were all hard copy.

Well it is was required as an undergraduate applicant. My D took college courses as a high school student and an e-transcript from UChicago was required to be sent as part of her application. I suppose you could have a hard copy sent, but it still has to come directly from the university you attend now to Cornell. (Meaning, it can’t come in an envelope from you). So I think you can request a hard copy to be sent, it will just take a bit longer, whereas if you send it via Parchment (electronically) it’s taken care of in a day.

Oh, yea I did make my college send it directly. Thanks for your input!

I would recommend that you follow school policy with regards to stuff like this because it really makes things a lot easier for both parties when it comes to making sure your required documents are in. Also, you should consolidate your threads next time–that way people can answer all of your questions at once.

Good luck!
