I know that ETS was planning to change the GRE, but I just read online that in April they decided not to change it due to complications with the computer system. I was just curious if anyone knew when they would offer the new GRE (if they decide to at all) since it won't be offered this testing year. I am going abroad this September, and I won't be back until July 2008. I will be a senior in college when I get back, so I wanted to buy a GRE book to study from while away in Europe. I want to start prepping now, I just don't want it to change a whole lot in the mean time =/ Do those online Kaplan courses help at all? How do most people successfully prepare for the GRE?

I don't think ETS will be re-launching the "new" GRE anytime soon. In any case, there will likely be at least a year's notice as there was the first time around with the "new" GRE. So don't worry about that.

As to prep - any of the books will be fine. Download the PowerPrep software and take a timed practice test - that way you'll be able to focus your preparation a bit. You might even find you don't need any preparation.

Thats sad news fr me......i kinda liked the new one!!!

I like the old one. I'm glad they are not changing it.
