ETS from the Army in time for Spring 09 Semester

Most colleges only seem to offer fall admittance, am I correct? Should I apply now for Fall 08 and then try to defer till Spring 09? Would starting/applying for the Spring semester increase my chances of admission at all?

The application process seems so different for someone in my case and I really don't want to wait until Fall of 09 to start. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Many colleges accept spring semester starts. Policies tend to be school specific, so check the admission websites for those that interest you.

One thing to consider is financial aid requirements. It would seem to make sense to get an application and all financial aid forms in as early as possible. I would think that actually applying by the fall admit cut-off (indicating a spring enrollment) beneficial as it would get you a better shot at aid $. The aid is normally first come, first served and funds run out. I also don't know how GI benefits, if any, would factor in.

Advice is based on general assumptions and knowledge; both my kids were fall admits.

Someone with spring admit experience might differ with my advice.

Good luck.
