European Studies

Hello everyone,

I'm halfway through my third year of Journalism in Madrid, Spain. I'd like to apply to a few US graduate schools next fall to get an MA in Western European Studies that would prepare me to take the EU exams to enter the civil service or to work in international organisations based in Europe. (I know it sounds more logical to stay in Europe for this type of thing, but after 3 years of European university, I'm convinced of the superiority of American education). However, I will only be able to go if I get some sort of grant or assistantship that covers the cost of tuition. Could you guys recommend some strong programs that offer a good number of grants?

I have an overall average of 7.7/10 (GPA: 2.018 on a 3.0 scale). I haven't taken the GREs, but I took the SATs as an undergrad in 2004 and got 640math/710verbal/720writing...I am bilingual English-Spanish, fluent in French and have an upper-intermediate level of Italian. I'm afraid I haven't done too many special things as an undergrad. I worked at a France-based English newspaper for three months, studied abroad in Paris for a year and in Florence for a month. I have Venezuelan and Italian citizenship.

Thank you for your time, and if there's anyone who's planning on doing the same thing, my email is 100060888@alumnos.uc3m.es
