Evaluate my list of schools.

Any recommendations? Tremendous inconsistencies? I am interested in philosophy, film, political science, and liberal arts. I think I want to be in a major city, but I still want to see what other schools are like. So far I have visited UPenn, Johns Hopkins, UVA, and Georgetown. Ideally I think I want something medium-sized, but I'm looking at both large and small as well. I'm kind of cold on large state schools, but haven't ruled them out.

31.95 WGPA? Do you mean 3.95? What can your family afford? Do you know your EFC?

No, I meant what I typed. My school has a weird system that is out of 38 (100 avg. in all AP’s, the highest I’ve ever heard of was a 34 something). I don’t know my EFC, but I have an older sibling in college and neither of my parents is employed.

You might want to look into Williams and Pomona (Socal) if you’re looking into Amherst. Your chances are like everybody else. What we say can’t measure up to your better judgement. Try applying to all. Hope you’ll get into something you like.

How is your older sibling paying for college? NYU will most likely give you very little aid. Are you by any chance a NMSF?

I don’t feel comfortable sharing all this personal information, and don’t see how it’s relevant. Ignoring finances, do you have any further recommendations?

^Unfortunately finances becomes very relevant considering you may need some financial assistance. Pretty much every question that you are being asked is intended to help you narrow your list and find a school that you will like and be able to afford. You have already posted plenty of personal information regarding your stats so the financial info is no different. If you don’t want to answer those questions than I fully understand. However, don’t expect to get the best feedback.

I noticed of the colleges you visited that UPenn is listed as your first choice and UVA is listed as low/medium interest. What was it about each school that you liked and disliked? That may give us some insight as to how that would impact your other choices or recommend other options.

Pomona’s great, but not if you want to live in a city.
