Im a sophmore going to junior and my grandmother knows the father of the sec. of air force. My grandmother also knows the sec. of air force( General Wynn) due to the fact that she moved into his house and became friends in the 50’s. Anyways, could I recieve a nomination from him and get in?
Thank you

No. Do some research first.

Really? I know you can recieve nominations from vice pres and senators and reps but its not possible to get a nomination from him? My grandmother REALLY knows this guy and are BEST friends.

If that was the way the Air Force worked, would you want to be part of it?

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

RTBdad dont think im bribing him because im not. Im not some dumb guy who wants to get in the easy way out. Im pretty competitive and have good grades (3.9 weighted gpa) and good extra curriculars including varsity letters. So in the long run I have a reason.

"So in the long run I have a reason."

So you think that the means can be dishonest as long as the end is well intentioned? No, it doesn't work that way. If you can't take the time to do it right, don't even try. If you are sincere about going to the Academy, go through the PROPER process, just like everyone else.

Also, you may want to check your facts. His name is spelled "Wynne" and he is NOT a General.

UNcynical,

This forum is really going to miss you when you are gone!

thanks mr. UNcynical for that spelling mistake you'll make a fine grammer teacher!

"mr. UNcynical"

That's Lt. to you... and I'm female.

Seriously, though, don't try to sneak around the system.

since when was getting a nomination from someone high up there "sneaking" dont even tell me you wouldnt do the same if they offered you one.

He can't nominate you, HOW HARD IS THAT TO UNDERSTAND?

Since when did the Secretary of the Air Force become a general? Also, when did he change the spelling of his name?

The thing is i worked my ass off to get accepted to the academy just like everyone else accepted in this forum. So that kind of ****es people off when you're trying to manipulate the system to get a nomination, which you didn't earn, taking another person's spot that should have been accepted. If you're really good enough to get in then work your ass off like us and you'll get in too.

BTW folks, "grammer" is spelled "grammar". Never had so much fun in my life!

Aren't the Sec. AF nominations usually given to priors so they don't have to seek a representative/political nomination? Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the way USNA works...would make sense if USAFA worked the same way...

ok... here we go... im gonna post the most useful thing ever

http://www.usafa.edu/

Oscar Mike Golf!

for reals, do some reading mang (FutureUSAFApilot).

hey "taffy" why dont you type english and stop being dumb?

FutureUSAFApilot..you aren't going to get much respect or help the way you have come into here. You CANNOT get a nomination from your mom's dogs friend who knows the secretary of the Air Force. If you want a Future at USAFA and then to possibly be a pilot you might do yourself by researching yourself. All the info is out there...you just have to make the effort to learn.

Trust me I have read the info on nominations many times about getting it from a house member or vice pres. Including military-affiliated relatives. But it never mentioned a sec. of air force so I thought either it was not allowed or it was an exception to the rule. Thats all I wanted to know and all I recieve in return is "omg I worked soooo hard and did it the long way!! you suck futureUSAFApilot!" Im just trying to get a feel for the rules!
