Evaluation of CTY and EPGY math and physics courses

Does anyone have experience with CTY and/or EPGY online courses in math and science? Specifically, my daughter is considering taking CTY linear algebra (it's a prerequisite for CTY multivariable calculus, otherwise she might have taken that next). She would also like to learn Physics C, but I've heard negative reports about EPGY physics and math courses (software problems and tutors not responding in a timely manner). Does anyone have any experiences to share or advice to offer? My daughter is a junior and can take AP Statistics and Astronomy (very interesting to her but probably not very rigorous) at her school next year. She has already taken Calc BC and AP Bio, Chem, and Physics B.

My child did well with EPGY/CTY Java a couple of years ago. A friend's child has done a couple of CTY/EPGY advanced math classes in the summer (calc BC was one) and did reasonably well.

I'm taking EPGY Physics C now, after having taken no physics and Calculus BC, and it's been good, and my tutor usually responds pretty quickly, but I haven't really needed him so far yet. The only problem has been the fact that they weren't around during winter break, which I didn't expect, so that put me a little behind schedule. The software has worked fine for me, everything should be okay as long as you go through the manuals and stuff. Also, the grading is weighted very heavily towards test (Mechanics is based completely on tests and E&M is currently based 95% on tests, but it will change to the Mechanics weighting pretty soon), so that might be an adjustment.

Thanks, shravas. It's great to get an up-to-date report. Some of the other things I had heard may be from a few years ago. How are you finding the pacing of the course? Is there an online lab component?

My family has never had a bad experience with CTY until Linear Algebra. Basically, they gave you this text book and you had a "tutor." My sister would ask him a question and one week later he would respond by giving her a problem set from the text book. She dropped the course after 2 months and CTY fully refunded. This of course may have just been this particular tutor so it might be a good idea to just try it out and see how it goes. CTY has excellent customer service so if you are unhappy I'm sure they would refund.

The pacing is pretty good, they say that you should be able to finish each semester of Physics C in 3 months which is kind of fast, so even if you start in September, you'll have 4 months for each semester plus time to prepare for the AP test. And there aren't any labs right now, but I think the Physics classes offered through the online high school has labs so they might be adding that later on. But either way, it would have been a lot better than whatever my school had for physics, so I didn't really look into that too much.

Thanks everyone. It sounds like the quality of the tutors really varies.
