Son just got out his application and supplement a few days ago, but the teachers recs and the secondary school reports were sent months ago! In checking the application on-line, it says that the recommendations and the school report were not received. They do have record of the test scores, however.

Shouldn't this information already be posted, as it was sent so long ago? Or do you think because it was sent prior to the application, they didn't know what to do with it? Anybody else have this situation?

i'm in the exact same situation, and i think we should give it a couple more days before we call in and ask. they probably just need a little time to match what was sent in months ago with what they've just received.

I have the same issue. There's a possibility that one of two teacher recs is missing, but the school report should definitely be in for me. I'm not going to go as far as to say not to worry, but "not received" doesn't seem to meet anything quite yet.

The admissions office does not open a file on an applicant until the Common App is received, so it is probably just a matter of matching the recs in the "in box" with the newly opened applicant files. See: Harvard College Admissions Office: Prospective Students:

Without your Common Application/Universal Application, we cannot open your admission file, track supporting documents for your application, or send your name to our alumni/ae for a possible interview in your area.

So if you haven't submitted the Common App, they don't create a folder for you and they just ignore whatever materials you send them until later?

Doesn't sound very efficient to me. Can somebody confirm?

It didn't seem like they would notify you if your school materials were in - they would simply notify you if there were a problem. That's how the e-mail read, anyways.

For those of you whose application now states that all materials are "received" did you fill out the Secondary Report Part II? Apparantly this form is not part of the electronic Common App and needs to be sent in separately but from what I can tell it's basically the same as the Common App report! Do we need to fill that out and send in order for everything to be marked "received"?

that Part II thing is optional.. here's what it says:

"We have provided this supplement to the Common Application School Report to give secondary schools the opportunity to offer further information about their students. <<<<<you may="" have="" already="" provided="" this="" information="" in="" your="" report="">>>>>; we are happy to accept letters or photocopied reports and ask only that you staple them to this form. We recognize that not all parts of this form apply equally to all schools, and we understand that many counselors face extraordinarily demanding workloads. We are extremely grateful for your help in assisting students in the transition from secondary school to college."</you>

how long did it take for your sent items to show up? I sent my secondary report about a month and a half ago and it still hasn't shown up yet. I know for some people that it showed up as received after a couple of days, but it's been 3-4 days and it still hasn't shown up yet.

qwertydas, I'm in a similar situation. But application and supplement both showed up in a few days; SSR has been in a few days and teacher recs were sent in a week ago. App should have gotten there first. Anyone know what's up?
