Why do you even bother making a chance thread? LOL
Anyway, extremely good scores and good ECs, so just make sure to write a passionate essay. Your chances are better than most applicants applying to HYMP, but you still have to compete with those of perfect (or mere perfect) scores using your ECs and essay. GL

4 A-levels is more than most people. i'm english, and, like most english people, i took only 3 A-levels. the english system is that after the equivalent of your sophomore year one begins to specialise, and only takes 3 different subjects (in detail). then at english university that's narrowed down to one.

basically the A-level means that typically good english students know a lot more in specific fields than their american counterparts when they go to university, but they don't have the diversity to the same degree.

I am not intrested in Social Sciences, Just had them till my Std 10,afterward choose PCM with further maths as i was preparing for IIT and A level Maths wasn't challenging for IIT exam.

"unbalanced" why, i have Amnesty work and Have written articles in a National Daily. I also actively work for an orgnization whoose aim is to oppose goverments moove that divide the country.

What I am saying is that schools like U of Chicago or Swarthmore may choose to admit someone with a more balanced curriculum instead (w/ humanities, social science, and foreign language) b/c they are liberal arts colleges. HYP are not liberal arts colleges, but I am not sure how they view a "focused vs. balanced" curriculum. You should call upon other experts on CC to ask them this. Anyhow, it is too late to change it anyway, so just try your best and keep your grades up! Best of luck

but aren't there like 10,000 indians with stats like this every year?

i think like the quota for indians at any one top university is about 40-60 maybe? so really good stats don't mean a lot, ultimately, without everything else to back it up.

i'm english...its so retarded because here there aren't loads of academic prizes, nobody cares about transcripts or ECs...and then you get to senior year and start thinking about applying to america, and realise that your track record is totally feeble compared to thousands and thousands of indians.

Xedx when you are applying to a HYPM you re competing with people from your country and not from indians, chinese etc. Also, HYMP all taken together admit 30 indian whereas they recieve applications from 1000 or so. Competition is more tuff if you are from india then from UK.
