I am probably looking at some pretty good recs from my AP Computer Science and AP US History teachers along with an asst. prosecutor who helps us out in Mock Trial. Do I even have a chance against all the straight a applicants?

with stats, there is 0 way to know. write a great essay that is memorable and do what you love and you'll get in anywhere you want. grades + sat, while important, are by no means the be all end all. do you see how many 1600+4.0UW+Cured Cancer are rejected from schools like mit and even georgetown?

in my opinion, do some political activism stuff that has relevance to your IR project. show some kind of passion and stanford will see it.

nothing really stands out.

make sure you get your SAT2's over 700 each...preferrably over 750 each

cured cancer.. lol XD

ap brit lit? you mean...ap english lit? :)

i dunno mate, wait a few days and then check out the rd roster when it begins to fill up! some kids have stats almost identical to yours im sure...

:)

You say you've only taken honors english and mathematics? Is that the most difficult courseload your school offers? The primary thing schools look for is that you've challeged yourself in high school- I mean, if you're not taking the most difficult classes at your high school, then why would you want to take the most difficult classes possible in college- those at an elite institution?

But don't let me discourage you. A lot of schools now, it seems like especially Stanford, care less about the student that you were and more about the student you are. Also, your SAT is in the Stanford range (although improvement definitely wouldn't hurt), you need to probably start making straight A's now if you're serious about stanford. However, your ECs are great. If you come across as someone who's passionate and (I think this is really important to Stanford) someone who has an active mind and loves to learn, then you've got as good a shot as the 1600 4.0's

Despite SATs supposedly not mattering so much, I'd still try to improve the math score. If you're wanting to study comp sci, I'd aim for at least a 720 on the math. Also a 750+ score on the SAT II math IIc. (Don't take these words as definite - you can still get in without these scores)

Otherwise, what other people have said - show that you're passionate about what you do, write good essays, have good recs. College admissions is such a mystery, there's really no more help anybody can give you.

also, its possible you won't get in even with the scores thinkdifferent posted...but it does make you look more appealing to the adcoms =)

Just show a serious interest and "theme" and you'll be ok. Don't come with just a pile of stats - yours are good enough. A lot of people's stats are "good enough," at a certain point it doesn't matter if you've got a 1430 or 1450, it depends on your essays and how interesting your particular "streak" of interest is, and if it catches the adcom's eye. That part is half luck, half hard work.
