Ever gotten a C+?

So I got my grades for all my classes yesterday, and I'm pretty unsatisfied with all of them. They're all B+, B, or A-, with the exception of one C+ in an honors course. Is a C+ really horrible? I know B- or under looks pretty bad...

Grades
Honors: B, C+, B+, A-, A-
Non-honors: B+

Has anyone else ever gotten a C+? Does it really hurt your application?

Thanks for any advice.

Yes, it hurts your application.

yeah…i’ve gotten 2 or 3 C’s over the years (it sucks when they’re a C+ and SO close to being a B…gah). and this past semester I got two D’s…I basically wanted to kill myself for a day. (I had very good reasons, but still). you’ll get over it.

remember that you are so much more than your grades. obviously that’s such a cliche, esp. if you’re looking at HYPS; but really. its just a grade. don’t let it happen again, but don’t dwell on it either.

Yes. Anything less than an A+ hurts your application.

(I love the tags for this thread. xD)

I have never gotten a C+ nor do I ever intend to.

Yes, a C irreparably damages your GPA, though you could argue that anything less than an A does that as well.

Colleges will see your C when they look at your transcript. Just don’t let that happen any more…there’s a lot you can do to manage at least a B-.

I got two C-'s for both semesters sophomore year. Go BAWWWW some more.

i love reading the tags in all these threads. and no, never gotten a C+. or at least i don’t think i do =/

Gotten a D before. Second semester seniors ftw.

I got C’s for some of my final grades this year. (We don’t do the + or - thing at my school)

This year was sooo hard, but it’s done, so I’m just trying to look ahead to next school year.

haha…the tags:
bad grade, community college, failure, homelessness, i’ve gotten an a+, iv is hot, peach infestation, transcript

I’ve gotten much worse!!! Not something that will end up on my transcript, though…lowest is a B-

only c i got was last semester of senior year in ap econ. didn’t exactly hurt me.

damn the tags… ouch

Ofcourse.

yeah, I mean I know it hurts your application :(, but I was wondering about the extent to which it does.

I swear I keep thinking this title says “C++” and then I get all excited.

Such a geek.

The C+ combined with the Bs doesn’t look good… I got a C+ first semester in Calculus and got into engineering school so it doesn’t ruin everything, but it’s certinly not helpful. I think the fact that you’re below “good” in a number of subjects is more of a problem though. 5 As and a C+ (which is what I had… ?) they’ll probably assume you had a hard teacher.

Depending on what sort of range of school you’re looking at, and what you want to do, it might make no difference at all.

Uh yes. I had a D in History and a D in German and hopefully no more but maybe more freshman year. >.> <.< >.<

Oh my GOD.

The people on this board are crazy.

Do you know how many C+s I’ve gotten? Let me break it down for you:
Freshman Year: 2 C+'s, 2 B’s, and 2 A-s
Sophomore Year: I still don’t know… but probably 3-4 C+'s

Will it kill you? No way. You still have a shot at a LOT of schools. And by a lot I mean a LOT, including state schools and many, many, many small private liberal arts schools.

@AUGirl- That’s because the people on this board are mostly Top U applicants. Having some C’s is fine for tons of colleges, but the majority of the people on this board are shooting for only the top ones, so a C to them in like a death sentence.
